Smoking or vaping at GA
Members are reminded that the club has a smoking and vaping policy which has been in effect for some months. The policy falls into line with current Victorian legislation. There have been several instances recently reported where Green Acres members have ignored this policy which puts the club at significant risk.
The terrace, facing the golf course, is considered an outdoor dining area, and smoking is not permitted.
Smoking and vaping are not permitted in the Clubhouse and surrounds, and is only permitted in designated external car parking spaces and on the golf course.
I also ask that you do not put the staff in a compromising position where they are forced to ask you to adhere to this policy. Furthermore, please respect the direction of the staff as they are just doing their job.
Our obligations under the Tobacco Act - - smoking and the use of e-cigarettes (vaping) is banned in all commercial outdoor dining areas in Victoria.
- smoking and vaping is banned within 4 metres of an outdoor dining area, unless separated by a wall of at least 2.1 metres high.
- Venues must display acceptable ‘No smoking’ signs.

Clubhouse hours during course closure for greens renovation
The club is performing its annual greens renovation soon, starting Wednesday November 6th through Friday November 8th.
The course and practice facilities will be closed during this period and will reopen Saturday November 9th.
As there is no golf at the club those days, the usual operating hours will be amended to the following -
Wednesday 6 November Golf Centre and course will be closed. Administration and Member's Bar will be open 9.00am – 5.00pm.
Thursday 7 November Golf Centre and course will be closed. Administration open 9.00am – 5.00pm. Member's Bar open 9.00am – 7.00pm
Friday 8 November Golf Centre and course will be closed. Administration and Member's Bar will be open 9.00am – 5.00pm.
Members with lessons booking in the teaching studio over these 3 days must access the golf Centre via the main Reception entrance.
Members who store their golf clubs in the downstairs storage area are asked to make prior arrangements to collect their clubs in advance during this time as there will be minimal staff presence in the Golf Centre.

New Green Acres Website
Following on from last week's update, the release date of the new Green Acres website has been set for release on Wednesday 6th November.
On that date, during the day a complete shutdown of the current website is required so that the changover to the new website takes place. This may be for a few hours, the exact timing of the shutdown and length of time be advised next week.
What we can advise now is that during this period of shutdown, members will not be able to go online and view timesheets and make golf bookings, particularly for days where the timesheet opens 8 days in advance at 2pm.
In order to mitigate this issue, we will be opening some daily timesheets earlier than usual. These will be the following -- Wednesday 13th November
- Thursday 14th November
- Friday 15th November
These timesheets will all open for bookings on Monday 4th November at 2pm. Please take note of this if you want early access to these daily timesheets.
Some key points about the new website -- We've aimed to improve the overall look and feel of the website, particularly focusing on the areas where visitors can access club information
- A new member dashboard will welcome members upon logging in, providing a new look and an improved navigation experience for users
- The areas for member's timesheet and lesson bookings will remain unchanged
- www.greenacresgolf.com.au will also remain the Club's web address, this will not change
More news on the new website in next week's GA News.

Representative Golf - Junior Pennant Round 2
Team Managers Report - Greg O'Brien & Paul Reid The Green Machine Pennant Team hosted Northern 2 junior pennant team last Sunday. The team recorded a 5 to 1 point victory.
We were lucky to have our team Captain Hugo Howlett back after competing in the Junior Club Championships and he led the way with a strong 1 up victory against Northern’s captain. We continue to have a strong and even performance across all the team members regardless of match outcomes. We are all continuing to learn about match play and how to manage risk and return when playing a direct competitor. All games were played in a great spirit and so much experience was gained to take into the following rounds.
We would like to thank Ash Hall for doing a lot of preplanning for our team. Also in particular, Nathan Rees for being our Club representative with regards to getting us on the course and providing feedback on rules and processes for the day. We also would like to thank Bernie and her team who hosted both teams in the clubhouse where both teams enjoyed soft drinks and some food while chatting about a good day of golf competition. We also appreciated all the support of members on the day who gave us a wave and cheer while they were on course. We are super grateful to play and represent such a friendly and welcoming club and membership base.
Meanwhile the "Chargers" had an away game, this time at Settler's Run. This course is located 45km away – down towards Cranbourne. Our team really enjoyed this opportunity to play at a new course, which provided both city views and kangaroos.
The positive spirit in the team was shown in multiple ways;
- Players from the other junior pennant team - Green Machine, helping us out when we were a player short,
- Being a good winner with empathy for their opponent, &
- Players not winning - but smiling - knowing that they had played really well and were proud of the game they played.
These are important qualities in life/golf – and a credit to the team for the way they played.

Hole-in-One: Meredith Evans
Last Tuesday, a special moment occurred during the women’s competition. Meredith Evans stood on the 9th tee, selected her 6-iron, and prepared for her shot. After a deep breath, she took aim and began her backswing. She struck the ball solidly, narrowly avoiding the edge of the bunker.
To Meredith's delight, the ball rolled onto the green and straight into the cup. This marks her second hole-in-one at Green Acres, the first happening on the 11th hole early in her golfing journey.
Congratulations, Meredith!
