Course Works
This week has seen some welcome rain with 50mm recorded over 2 days. The course handled it well with our last significant rainfall event 10 weeks ago.Ground staff have been able to complete some tasks that have been hard to get to due to a dry period of weather. These tasks include; - Edging paths
- Tee plates
- Edging bunkers
- Applying herbicide to bunker faces
- Impeding tree limbs
- Suppression of kikuyu
- Re-instatement of the 16th bunker. *photo below
This week we have also started to address drainage pits, clearing overgrown grass and debris out of them in readiness for Winter.

All garden beds have been seen to by our gardener over the last 10 weeks. We are awaiting tube stock from our local indigenous nursey to replenish all areas throughout the course.
All greens have been needle tined with 6mm solids to relieve compaction and help freshen up the plant before heading into Winter. This was done at 2 inch spacings and at a depth of 3 inches.
The 14th green has been mown 3 times since laying down the turf in mid-March with a height cut of 6mm. We are very happy with the progress and and now awaiting sufficient root depth to re-open the green.
The photos below are taken 5 days apart and show significant progress on the 14th green.

|
Cutting heights will be raised soon - tees 15mm and fairways 15mm over the coming weeks to combat foot traffic coming into the cooler months of the year.
Greens will remain at 3mm until we start to experience wet weather and/or frosty mornings.
IN other news, the maintenance shed upgrade is tracking along very well with the next stage started of putting up the frame of the new chemical storage and machinery areas. We are hoping to see this stage completed within the next 2 weeks.

J.F. Mulvany Trophy- Saturday 6th April
Tomorrow, Saturday the 6th April, the J.F. Mulvany Trophy will coincide with the Men’s April Medal. The winner will be determined by the best nett score among participants aged 50 and over, with entry being automatic.
First established in 1961 and claimed by D. Jackson, this event has been an annual tradition for the past 62 years. Joseph Mulvany, after whom the event is named, served as a judge of the County Court and was a member of Green Acres since the club's inception. Born in 1904, he sadly passed away in 1964, only two years after the inaugural tournament.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow! Who will be the 63rd recipient of the J.F. Mulvany Trophy and etch their name into the history books...

Monday Boys Competition
This Monday we will be trialling a new way of processing the Monday’s Boy competition by using the side competition feature which will allow the member to opt into playing in the Monday boys competition when they register.
The member will be prompted by the app and only those who elect to register will be eligible for the Monday boys NTP, birdie ball and ball rundown.
We will also run a manual opt out sheet for the day just in case the new process fails, and we have to revert back to the old way to finalize the results.

Hire Buggies & Batteries
Due to a recent change in insurance policy, we regret to inform you that the Golf Centre will no longer be able to charge hire batteries or the batteries for the hire fleet on-site.
Consequently, if a member forgets their battery, we will be unable to provide them with a loan battery, and they will need to utilise one of the club’s manual pull buggies instead.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding in this matter.
