26th April 2024
Pennant Finals this Sunday

The Pennant season has finally come to a close and Green Acres have two teams participating in the finals, with both the Men's Pennant team and the Youth Pennant team playing off for 1st place on Sunday morning!

Both teams and matches will be teeing off this Sunday the 28th of April at Gardiners Run Golf Course. The Youth Pennant team will tee off at 8am, while the Men's Pennant team will tee off at 9am.

The Green Acres Men's Pennant team will be playing against Kew while the Youth Pennant team will be playing Rossdale.

We encourage all Green Acres members to come down and support the Pennant squads who have worked enormously hard all season. With both teams playing at the same course, and teeing off only an hour apart it's the perfect opportunity to come support the teams and watch Green Acres compete for the number 1 spot.

The boys would be very grateful for your attendance.

Course architects engaged at Green Acres

Clayton, DeVries & Pont (CDP) and Kruse Golf have been appointed to create a Course Enhancement Plan. This will replace the 2013 Course Masterplan by Crafter & Mogford.

The project team will comprise CDP’s Mike Clayton and Lukas Michel, and Kruse Golf’s principal Harley Kruse. The collaboration brings a diverse range of skills, knowledge, and long-term experience to the table. They are currently working on a number of projects at other golf courses including Yarra Yarra GC, Royal Perth GC, Wembley GC, Woodlands GC, Kew GC and Sorrento GC.

We are very excited to be working with Mike, Lukas and Harley and look forward to seeing their plans for the course when they become available. A first draft of the plan is expected to be considered by the Course Sub-Committee in June and a presentation to members will be made later in the year prior to the plan being finalised.

Mike Clayton has a long association with Green Acres, having commenced his golf at the course when his father was a member.

He shares his interest in the course and the project in the below short video.

Code of Conduct amendment

At our last Board meeting, the Board ratified an alteration to the Code of Conduct (C.O.C). Whilst the C.O.C intent remains unchanged, legal advice suggested a change to clauses 3 and 4 to add the ability for a “suitably nominated person” to be engaged to receive a complaint, complete the initial evaluation and to have the period to complete the evaluation from 7 days to 21.

The reason for the change was that there was no avenue to receive or evaluate a C.O.C complaint if the General Manager was on leave or unavailable. Also, the 7-day period, especially in cases of notification being forwarded the day before a long weekend or holiday period, did not allow suitable time for an effective evaluation to be completed.

These changes now allow the process to be completed effectively.

You can view the C.O.C by clicking here.

The Green Acres Cup final

The Green Acres Cup final was played on Saturday, April 20th, between Russell Smith and Scott Mahony and Byron Tan and Lee Feng.

Byron Tan was unable to play, and his playing partner Lee Feng took on Russell and Scott by himself.

The battle was fierce, and Lee played well, but he sometimes needed his teammate to help him out.

Russell and Scott walked away victorious with a 4/3 win over Lee at the end.

Altered Timesheet Format - Tuesday 7th May

Due to the Women’s Foursomes Championship Qualifying Round on Tuesday, May 7th, the timesheet has been altered slightly due to the fast-paced nature of foursomes. The tee time intervals have been decreased to 6 minutes (normally 8min).

The morning 9-hole play has been removed, and women’s afternoon competition tee times start from 11:00 AM.

Social play commences at 11:44 AM until 12:24 PM and then resumes after 2:44 PM.

Women’s Guest Day Results

Women’s Guest Day was played on Tuesday with 83 players taking to the field and a fantastic 35 guests.

The format for the day was a team Stableford event with the best 2 of 4 scores going on the card. It was a fresh but beautiful morning, and it produced some impressive results.

Congratulations to the winning team of Julia Trafford, her guest Margaret Brown, Barb Cummins and her guest Hilary Lamacraft with a sizzling team score of 93 points.
